One of my favorite quotes comes from the movie Le Mans, 1971, and serves as an apropos metaphor for performance in business:
“A lot of people go through life doing things badly. Racing's important to men who do it well. When you're racing, it's life. Anything that happens before or after is just waiting.”
Racing is about urgency, timing, consistency, and precision; driving your optimal line to the best of your ability; wringing every ounce of speed from your car; showing up for the start, and finishing first despite everyone else on the track trying to ensure that you’ll lose. There is no “waiting” in competition.
So, WTF are you all waiting for? Do something.
